Certified Responsible Climbing on Kilimanjaro
Certified Responsible Climbing on Kilimanjaro, Mount Kilimanjaro climbing is more than just a journey; it changes your life. When you stand on the “Roof of Africa,” you’ll never forget it. However, the way you get there is just as important as the top. Everyone should leave a good mark on the world, and that’s exactly what we at Tanzania Zanzibar Safari want to do.
We are happy to say that Tanzania Zanzibar Safari has been legally certified by the Kilimanjaro Responsible Trekking Organization (KRTO). This shows that we are committed to fair treatment, ethical practices, and caring for the environment on every trek. This license shows that we are committed to doing business in an honest way, treating porters fairly, and taking care of the environment.
What Does It Mean to Be Certified in “Responsible Climbing”?
The KRTO license is more than just a title; it means you promise to do things the right way.
For every trip we plan, this is what it means:
Fair Pay and Good Treatment: Our workers, guides, and crew are fairly paid and work in good conditions.
Excellent Gear and Training: Everyone on the team has access to excellent gear and is constantly trained.
Environmental Responsibility: We follow the “Leave No Trace” rules to make sure we have as little effect as possible on Kilimanjaro’s fragile environment.
What KRTO, KPAP, and IMEC Do
The Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project (KPAP), whichs goal was to make working conditions better for porters on Kilimanjaro, gave rise to the Kilimanjaro Responsible Trekking Organization (KRTO). KPAP makes sure that the hardworking teams who make every climb possible get fair pay, the right gear, and good care. We couldn’t have made it up that steep slope without the crew’s help!
The International Mountain Explorers Connection (IMEC) is in charge of these global efforts and makes sure that responsible hiking is done in a clear and honest way. Together, these groups set the highest bar for responsible mountain tourism. They make sure that all certified operators put social and environmental responsibility first.
Not Just a Badge
This approval isn’t just a compliment; it’s a promise. A promise to take care of our team, protect our environment, and give our climbers an experience that is both responsible and memorable.
You are not only planning a trek when you choose Tanzania Zanzibar Safari; you are also becoming a part of a movement. For every climb, a detailed plan is made, and each step is taken with respect for the mountain and the people who live there.
