How to get your visa for Tanzania

How to get your visa for Tanzania

How to get your visa for Tanzania. After you’ve booked one of our Tanzania tours or Zanzibar vacations (yay!), you’ll need to get a tourist visa. I worry and feel insecure about this for a lot of people. How do I apply? Where do you apply? What do I need to bring? You’re in luck because getting a visa for Tanzania is pretty simple, especially if you book your trip through our service. Keep reading to find out more.

There are two ways to get a visa for Tanzania: online or when you get there. Both ways are fine and legal, but the Tanzanian government wants you to use the online method because they want to show that Tanzania is a modern country. We listed more of the pros and cons of each way of applying below. First, let’s talk about how much it will cost.

HOW MUCH DOES A GUINEA VISA COST?

The fees for a Tanzania visa are a little different for each country. From where are you coming? Then there is a 50 USD fee. Are you a citizen of the US? Then you need to pay $100 for a visa that lets you enter and leave the country more than once. The multi-entry visa lets you leave the country and come back with the same visa within a year. Both visas are good for three months.

When you buy your visa online, the above numbers apply. If you apply when you get there, it will cost you either 50 USD or 50 EUR, or 100 USD for a visa that lets you enter numerous times. It’s a little strange, since 50 EUR is worth more than 50 USD. If you’d rather use a credit card, you can pay too. The fee is 50 or 100 USD plus the credit card fee. You can make your choice.

HOW TO APPLY ONLINE

The Tanzanian government likes it better when you apply online, and there are some good reasons for that:

The process is pretty simple, especially since you get a PDF with instructions when you book through our service.
You get on the plane knowing that you have a visa and that it has been paid for.
Before you leave, you only need to wait at one desk to get your visa stamped.
To get a visa online, you need to go to the Tanzanian government’s website. If you want to apply, DO NOT use any other website. They are either more expensive or scams. Tourists have lost money to these scams in the past, so it’s better to be safe than sorry. This is the main site:

When someone books with us, they get a special PDF that walks them through the process. And if you need help, our travel experts are always here. We can’t process your visa for you, but this is pretty much the only way things could go wrong. It may take up to ten days after you send in your application for a visa before it is processed and accepted. Print it out or save it to your phone before you go. When you get there, all you have to do is wait in line at the customs desk to get your visa stamped in your passport. After that, you get your bags and are ready to go.

GET A VISA WHEN YOU GET TO TANZANIA

You can still apply when you get there* after March 2024, if you can’t or don’t want to apply online. Get ready for some nice African red tape, but other than that, the process is pretty simple:

When you get to the airport, you fill out an application form. Remember to bring a pen and write down the address of Tanzania Zanzibar Safari and your first room.
Get your visa at the counter.
You can pay your visa fee at a second desk with cash or a credit card.
Get the visa stamped in your passport at a third counter.

Pack your bags, and you’re ready to go.

You can see that if you apply online, you only have to wait in line once when you get there, but if you apply in person, you have to wait in line three times. If you do things the old-fashioned way, it might take you a little longer, but hey, you’re in Africa, where things move slowly, so don’t worry about it! It’s best that you get used to it. Just so you know, these days so many people apply online that the line for online applications is much longer than the three lines you have to wait in to apply in person. You might even get out faster.

You have a choice.

These days, most people would rather apply online to make sure they have their visa before they go on vacation. To which I can relate. Before you apply online, make sure you have the following things ready:

If your application is turned down, send it in three to four weeks before you leave. Which means you’ll have time to fix your mistakes and try again.
Ready to pay with a credit card or know how to send money to a bank account in another country.
Get ready with a digital photo the size of a passport, a picture of the biodata page of your passport (no more than 300 kB), and a PDF of your flight ticket (no more than 1 MB).
When you get back from Tanzania, make sure your passport is still good for six months.
Parents who only bring one kid on a trip must agree to the trip in writing and upload it into the system. The document must be in English and signed by both parents.
When you get to Tanzania, make sure you have a pen with you because they may still ask you to fill out a form.
If you want to take a chance and apply when you get there, don’t get on the plane without being ready either.

You can either bring cash (USD/EUR) or a credit card to cover the fee.
There’s no need for a passport-sized photo.
Bring a pen with you so you can fill out the application form. Write down the names of the first hotel you stay in and Tanzania Zanzibar Safari.
If a child is traveling with only one adult, you need an English-language paper that says the other parent agrees to the trip.
How you apply for your visa is up to you; do what makes you feel the least stressed. As long as you remember your goal, which is to get that visa. Because you can’t get your bags ready for your trip with us until you have your visa.
