How many people live in Tanzania?

Do I need a Tanzanian visa?

Most people from other countries will need a visa to visit Tanzania. The official website for visas run by the Tanzanian government is where you can ask for your visa. Please keep in mind that this is the only legal link for applying for a Tanzanian visa.

You can also get a vacation or business visa for one entry when you arrive at Tanzania’s main ports of entry. This Tanzania visa is good for three months. You might be asked to show proof of your return trip. It costs $50 per person, or $100 per person if you are a US citizen.

What shots do I need to go to Tanzania?

Only people over the age of one who are coming from or will be in transit at an airport for more than 12 hours within a country where yellow fever is spread need to show proof that they have been vaccinated against it.

As well as standard shots like MMR and TDP, the CDC and WHO suggest shots for Tanzania against Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, and Typhoid. Depending on what the traveler plans to do, they may also need to get vaccinated against yellow fever and rabies. Tanzania no longer has COVID-19 restrictions as of January 2023. Getting a shot or a PCR test before flying is no longer needed.
