With the new Zanzibar Airport, it’s now easy to get around Tanzania. The largest airport in Zanzibar is Abeid Amani Karume International Airport, which used to be called Kisauni Airport or Zanzibar International Airport. The airport is about 5 km south of Zanzibar City, which is the lively center of Tanzania’s beach paradise. This airport is where most foreign flights from East Africa, Europe, and the Middle East land before going to Tanzania.

Terminal 1 hasn’t been used since December 2021. Terminal 2 is now the airport office and the place where domestic planes land. Terminal 3 is getting close to being finished. When it’s done, the brand-new airport will be ready for foreign travelers by the summer of 2022. VIP (CIP) club with lots of waiting rooms

better stores and coffee shops
prayer rooms, more elevators, and easier entry for people with disabilities
Planes landing right at the station (no need for a bus!)
Several baggage racks and a big parking lot
